Scarlet

Why people wear an all-red outfit around these couple months? Here's to never misinterpret a color ever again, Happy Chinese New Year!

When the calendar hits January, you will start seeing ornaments everywhere and everything turns red, bright red to be specific. The color which how people celebrate Chinese New Year in, to start fresh and welcome good incoming luck this year. Not just ornaments and firecrackers, people also wear Scarlet colored outfits to celebrate the spring festival.

But what exactly does it mean? What does the color tell you? Well, the color itself represents bravery in general, in particular cultures, red shades have different meanings- from fertility, sacrifice, to expel evil spirits, or simply a sign of danger. In Chinese culture, Bright Red has a very deep meaning as it's believed to bring joy, happiness, and good fortune into life, thus considered taboo to wear at funerals.

Pink March

The Women's March, with so many inequality this world has, what a great effort we saw on January 21st, not only in the USA, but around the world. It's such inspiring to see so many people gathered to speak their voice and other peoples' voices. It's what this world really needs, to be heard, to fight the fear, and stand up for what we believe in.

Women's March in Washington

What's so heart-moving about this march is they speak for everyone, not just discrimination against women, but also refugees and immigrants, the LGBTQIA, and the disabled. It is such a relief there are people who care and really put on a fight to end it, and the best thing about it is its nonviolence principle, because violence is the last thing we need.

The Pink Cat-Eared Hat

If you look at Washington on January 21st from a rooftop, the road is literally pink. It was from the pink hats the participants worn for the march. This is the definition of the word "Solidarity", Rise Together :) The hat itself is from the Pussyhat Project to support the Women's March, it's pink, it has cat ears, it's knitted, and here's why,

The Color, Pink
It's not blue, black, tan, nor white like the usual knitted hats, it's pink! It's to make visual statement to be better heard, the color is pink because it's a female color representing caring, compassion, and love.

The Cat Ears
It's called the Pussyhat and "Pussy" is the degrading and disrespectful term for female's sexual organs, it's so degrading that it became such empowerment, even in the lowest level you are in a society, you still have rights and if you get mistreated, you have the right to fight back.

Hand-Knitted
To protect the participants from cold weather, why hand-knitted? It's to remind the participants, that we have to care about each other, not only our own beings but workers, civil, and most importantly human rights.

Please go to the Pussyhat Project to see their work, it's so heart warming.

The participants were not women only, men and children were there too, everyone who resists discrimination and mistreatment.

The march wasn't held only in the USA, it was in Brazil, Australia, the UK, France, Germany, Kenya and Japan as well.

I hope there are more countries, with more people, organizations and communities participate in the next march, oh yes there will be next one until we all treat and get treated equally! Please check Women's March Global to get more information, updates, and support the movement or make a donation. If the world can really hold hands together to rise, I think we won't only save ourselves, but our planet as well :3

Royal Yellow

It's the second week of 2017, let's talk more colors! *yay! It's the brightest hue humans can see, Yellow! As one of the primary colors (set of colors that cannot be created by mixing any other colors), yellow is often associated warmth, optimism, intelligence, hope, and gentleness, due to it being the most visible and luminous color.

So what comes to your mind when you hear the word "yellow"? Well, other than Coldplay's song... Yellow is also the color of the iconic Belle's royal Dress in the upcoming live-action movie, "Beauty and the Beast". Nope! It's not entirely gold like we imagined it would be, but it's yellow with Gold ornaments.

Entertainment Tonight
The movie's costume designer, Jacqueline Durran said on Entertainment Weekly that they tested a lot of yellow colors, "it was just trying to work out the tone" she says. Though it has satin-finishing, it's made of layers of silk to maintain its volume and lightness at the same time, so it has that flowy effect. The dress itself has two tones of yellow in its lighter spectrum; a Sunflowery yellow and Gold for its flower details.

The yellow dress is perfect for Belle, it suits her and her personality- wise, gentle, and independent. Even though she's not the "leader" of the princesses (Cinderella?), Belle is the most intelligent out of the others due to her hobby and passion for books. Yeah, have I mentioned Yellow means Intelligence?

In the original movie, the dress is worn only once! Yep, in "the Ballroom Dance" scene, but it became the royal dress for Belle in the Disney Princesses lineup and meet-and-greet.

We still have to wait until March to see the dress in action, oh wait..! Here's some fun rumor- Ariana Grande and John Legend will be covering the theme song in, "Beauty and the Beast". Aren't we all excited? Well until then, let's embrace the color more!

JOANNE

After taking a break for a really long time, Gaga's 5th album, Joanne (...well it's her sixth if you count her collab album with Tony Bennett). Proving her ability in any music genre more, she took the country road this time! and it's as phenomenal as her other albums.

It is rumored to be about her true self, since we all know Lady GaGa is just her stage name, and her real name is Joanne.

In the fashion division, she's..... calmer than her last personas, no more Kermit the frog outfit, plastic bubbles dress, red lace crown or "the bird's nest" hat LOL her costumes are still spot on but wearable.

Gaga was also extravagant in the beauty department, her makeup game was #halloweengoals.

We used to see her all over the place, but not this time- with the signature Pink Cowgirl hat, Joanne-Gaga is just perfection!
